RUNAWAYS Tools and Inventory

Organize RUNAWAYS tools, dragging, inventory space, vault preparation, dropping, reloading, attaching, and storage for a safer escape.

RUNAWAYS inventory works best when every space has a purpose. Keep the required interaction tool accessible, reserve room for the planned loot, and know which object can be left behind. Official controls establish E for equip or drag, X for drop tool, F for inventory, Click or Touch for the active tool action, R for reload, and Q for attach.

Before entering: open inventory, identify the tool for the target, and reserve an exit margin. A full inventory at the vault or pawn counter is a route-planning problem, not a reason to spam inputs.

Learn the tool cycle

Open inventory with F, select an available tool, and use E or the live contextual prompt to equip it. Use Click or Touch once in a safe area to confirm its action. Drop with X only when you understand what is selected and can recover it. This practice separates a wrong-tool problem from a broken interaction.

For weapons, R is reload and Q is attach. The official description does not publish compatible ammo or attachments, so read the current item state. Do not force an attachment through scripts or assume another game’s system applies.

Handle dragged objects

E can mean drag as well as equip. Center the object, press once, and watch its state. Move slowly through a doorway, keeping the camera aimed so you can see whether the object is caught. Reverse and change angle if needed. Repeated toggling can drop or reattach it at the worst moment.

Decide whether an awkward object is worth the remaining route. A smaller item that fits through the vehicle and pawn-shop entrance may yield a better completed result than a bulky object with unknown value. The Loot Values Guide explains how to compare effective value.

Prepare the reported vault tool

Current community walkthroughs use a crowbar for vault preparation. Verify the current tool identity, location, price if any, and vault prompt in the live server. The official Heist badge confirms that vault breach is a real objective, but it does not specify the crowbar or interaction sequence.

Keep the crowbar in a predictable slot and do not fill every other space before breaching. Stage the vehicle, know the exit, and decide which loot has priority. If the prompt is missing, verify the selected tool and target before rejoining.

Evaluate backpacks and capacity

Community guides recommend a medium backpack early, but no first-party current capacity table was verified. Inspect the live shop or item prompt, note visible price and capacity, and compare it with the limitation from the previous run. An upgrade is useful only if additional space reaches the pawn counter.

More capacity can also increase time inside a target. Set a leaving rule before the inventory is full: for example, depart when the vehicle load is manageable or police risk rises. Do not let unused theoretical space keep the crew in danger.

Store items with known loss risk

The official Starter Pack warns that its included Glocks and Bats are single-run use, can be lost after dying, and can be stored with the Weapons guy. If you own those items, locate the visible storage interaction before a dangerous run and confirm the stored state normally.

Other tools may follow different rules. Test their persistence separately. Never hand account credentials to a service that offers external storage, duplication, or recovery.

Controls and Starter Pack storage wording are Official. Crowbar use and the medium-backpack recommendation are Community corroborated. Prices, capacity, persistence for other items, and exact slot mechanics remain Needs in-game testing.

Reopen inventory after respawn or a fresh server to verify persistence.
