RUNAWAYS Beginner Guide

Follow a practical first RUNAWAYS session from controls and a small robbery through pawning, fuel planning, checkpoints, and the escape to Mexico.

The safest first RUNAWAYS session is a complete small loop, not the biggest robbery you can find. Learn the prompts, take a few manageable objects, turn them into CREDZ at a pawn location, confirm the vehicle and fuel plan, then decide whether the server is stable enough for the road to Mexico. This teaches every part of the official robbery-and-escape objective without staking the entire run on one unfamiliar interaction.

First-run rule: leave a location while you still know how you will carry the loot, reach the vehicle, and sell it. An extra object is not valuable if it blocks a tool, slows the escape, or never reaches the pawn counter.

1. Practice the official controls

Use Click or Touch for punching and tool actions. The official description lists E for equip or drag, X for dropping a tool, R for reload, Q for attach, F for inventory, and C for crouch or slide. Test each available action in a quiet area. The current prompt in the live client wins if a binding has changed.

Open and close inventory, equip one object, drop it, and pick it up again. Turn the camera while moving, then enter and exit the starting vehicle. This two-minute rehearsal matters because robbery, police attention, and vehicle positioning later demand the same actions under pressure. Mobile players should make sure the camera gesture does not hide an interaction button.

2. Complete one modest robbery

Choose an accessible house or shop rather than searching for an exact “best” address. Current community walkthroughs show ordinary buildings providing a practical starting loop, but colors, contents, and availability can differ by server. Approach slowly, read the prompts, and keep an exit direction in mind.

Take compact objects you can actually manage. Community examples include jewelry, electronics, trophies, and household items, yet exact values are not published by the developer. Do not assume a large model pays more. Carry one or two objects first, verify how dragging and inventory behave, and learn whether a tool must remain equipped.

3. Pawn the haul and read the result

Community routes identify TrashAmerica Pawn as a sale point. Follow map text, signs, or a demonstrated current route rather than memorizing coordinates from an old video. Bring the object to the interaction area and read the displayed transaction. If it does not sell, check whether you are holding the right object and using the intended prompt before abandoning it.

Treat the first sale as a lesson, not a universal price table. Record the item name and visible return if you want to compare future runs. A successful pawn proves that the object can enter the economy in that build; it does not prove every copy, server, or update will behave identically.

4. Spend only against a clear bottleneck

After the first sale, ask what actually limited you. If inventory space ended the robbery, consider a backpack or better item discipline. If travel or fuel stopped the route, improve the vehicle plan. If the controls were the problem, keep practicing before purchasing anything. CREDZ kept for fuel or a later opportunity can be more useful than a rushed upgrade.

Paid gamepasses are optional products, not a required first-session step. Their official prices and displayed vehicle stats are recorded in the Gamepasses Guide, with a date. A high paper Speed number does not replace route knowledge, braking, or armor. Learn the free loop before deciding whether a product solves a real problem.

5. Prepare for the road south

Before leaving the familiar area, make room in inventory, confirm the vehicle is reachable, inspect the fuel situation, and choose whether the goal is simply route practice or a full escape. Community walkthroughs and official badges align on the sequence of Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, and finally Mexico. Checkpoint crossings are tracked, and police pressure can follow the crossing.

Use road signs and major landmarks. Beta map changes can invalidate an exact turn-by-turn route while leaving the state sequence intact. Slow down before a gate or narrow passage, avoid unnecessary collisions, and do not let the fuel supply reach a crisis before looking for a station.

6. Finish, learn, and repeat

The official International Fugitive condition is escaping to Mexico. Cross the border and wait for the visible game result rather than quitting the instant the vehicle touches a line. If the badge or completion does not appear, consider server delay, whether the required trigger was crossed, and whether the run ended before the event registered.

If the attempt fails, name one cause. A full inventory suggests a loot-selection change. An empty tank suggests earlier fuel planning. A police loss suggests practicing sight breaks and vehicle staging. A missed prompt suggests returning to the Controls Guide. Improve one step on the next run so you know which change helped.

Before checkpointsCheck fuel and spaceKeep the car accessible and an exit planned.
After failureChange one variableControls, loot, fuel, or police—not all at once.

The beginner goal is competence, not a record time. Once the small loop feels automatic, continue with Rob and Pawn, Crack Vaults, and Reach Mexico.

Sources and confidence

The objective and controls are official. Badge conditions officially confirm the named checkpoints, Mexico escape, vault breach, level 5, money, and mileage goals. The pawn location, ordinary robbery sequence, and route flow are community corroborated and should be checked against the current server.
