How to Escape Police in RUNAWAYS

Break police line of sight, preserve movement, stage a fueled vehicle, and recover from a RUNAWAYS pursuit without relying on fake cooldown numbers.

Escaping police in RUNAWAYS begins before the first unit arrives. Keep a vehicle fueled and pointed toward open road, preserve inventory mobility, and identify solid cover around the robbery or checkpoint. When the pursuit starts, break line of sight with deliberate turns, avoid repeated collisions, and use the terrain to create a clean route rather than driving faster without a destination.

No universal timer is verified: the official game and badges establish police levels and escape objectives, but they do not publish a fixed pursuit cooldown, spawn radius, or detection formula. Watch the live wanted state and server feedback.

Prepare an exit before creating attention

Park where the driver can enter without crossing the robbery room again. Face the car toward a wide exit and leave clearance around doors and obstacles. Check fuel, practice the first turn, and notice whether a road narrows near a checkpoint. If the vehicle is damaged or difficult to control, solve that before carrying high-value objects outside.

Keep only loot that can be moved reliably. A bulky object caught in a doorway can cost more than it earns. If police arrive and movement is compromised, dropping a low-priority tool or object through the normal X or contextual control may preserve the run. Confirm the current held state before dropping anything important.

Break sight with geometry, not panic

Community guidance consistently favors solid buildings, corners, elevation changes, and route changes that interrupt direct view. A long straight road lets pursuers continue tracking even if your top speed is good. Turn where the vehicle can complete the corner without scraping, then make a second choice after sight is broken instead of immediately circling back.

On foot, C is officially the crouch or slide control. Use movement changes to pass cover or a doorway, not as a promise of invulnerability. Jumping, sliding, or zigzagging in open ground does not replace a solid visual break. Move toward the staged vehicle or a defensible exit rather than adding random direction changes.

Drive for consistency

Accelerate smoothly enough to maintain steering. Early braking is usually better than a full-speed collision at a gate, fuel station, bridge, or checkpoint. If another player is driving, agree on the destination before the wanted level rises; live route calls are shorter and clearer when everyone knows the next landmark.

Do not assume the vehicle with the highest displayed Speed statistic is automatically the best escape. Official pass listings show Speed, Acceleration, Handling, and Armor for several paid vehicles, and the values involve tradeoffs. Actual collision recovery, fuel behavior, road width, and driver skill need current testing. See Vehicle Tier List for an evidence-based comparison.

Recover when the route goes wrong

If the car flips, catches, or loses its line, stop adding uncontrolled inputs. Reorient the camera, find the widest available path, and decide whether recovery or an on-foot sight break is safer. If fuel is low, head toward a known current station before the tank is critical. Community routes frequently mention Exon for fuel, but confirm the sign and interaction in the live build.

If police remain attached after a long sight break, do not rely on an exact number of seconds from an old guide. Continue reading the wanted indicator, change areas, and avoid immediately re-entering the same visible line. A fresh server is useful only for testing whether behavior changed; leaving mid-run can abandon the current objective.

Wanted-level badge objectives

The official FDI Most Wanted badge requires reaching police level 5. Hardened Criminal requires escaping to Mexico while you have police level 5. These conditions make level 5 a deliberate challenge, not a requirement for every successful beginner run. Practice an ordinary Mexico escape before combining the border and maximum documented police-level goals.

Build the level through normal gameplay and watch the displayed indicator. The official badge wording does not explain the fastest method, how much each action adds, or whether a level persists through every state. Avoid claims that promise an exact action count. Once level 5 is visible, prioritize route completion and preserve the state through the Mexico trigger.

Sources and confidence

Police level 5 and the Mexico-at-level-5 requirement are Official badge facts. Line-of-sight breaks, vehicle staging, and sliding are Community corroborated tactics rather than published formulas. Cooldowns, spawn rules, damage, and exact pursuit duration remain Needs in-game testing.
